Black letter, double column. This is one of the rarest editions
- The 3rd + 5th editions carry a notice that they
were "overseen" by Bishopt Tunstall + Heath,
this to disassociate the Bible from Cromwell;s
namem for he had fallen from the King's favor
+ had been executed in 1541.
- THe text mainly follows taht of the 2nd ed, though
it contains a number of minute variations.
HEHL 73097 July 1540 - this ed. has many thin, some thick +
a few small pointing hands placed in the text +
margins.

- In oone of history's great ironies, the 3rd + 5th ed. of the
Great Bible notte that they have been "overseen and perused" by
Bishop Tunstall. Tunstall knew he was authorizing a Bible
that relied heavily on Tyndale's translations, yet under King
