The 1st 3 books appeared in 23 BC when Horace was
42. The 4th book was written, somewhat as the work
of a poet lameate, 10 yrs later.
Book I. 1-38 II. 1-20 III. 1-29 IV. 1-15

Kraus 29 Cat. #126 Roman type, headings in Gothic. One column of text surrounded
by commentary. 6 leaves [crossed out] index [end crossed out], 207 ff, f. 208 blank, 6 leaves index.
With a woodcut illustration to each poem, mostly made
up of 2 to 5 cuts; together 101 cuts.
This ed. of Horacis works was published by J. Lochner from
newly discovered manuscripts + not from printed text
versions. A dedicatory letter by Lochner to the Margrave of
Baden defends German scholarship + manners against
the aspersions of Francesco Filelfo.
31 of the cuts were made for this publication. The balance
had appeared previously in the Terence of 1496; Nauenschiff
of 1494, + their works.
