Otto Eye 1584 -- This Hebrew O.T. c interlinear Latin translation is a reprint from the 2nd half of Vol. 7 in the Antwerp Polyglot (1568-73) The Hebrew text is taken from the Complutensian Polyglot, c an interlinear Latin transl. - a revision of Sanctes Paginus' version. For ^his printing of impressive + scholarly Bibles, Plantin was appointed Prototypograph, or ruler over the printers in the city of Antwerp by Phillip II of Spain. The King also secured for him a license from the Holy See, which soon brought a fortune to Plantin + his successors. Plantin a native of France, was a printer's pprentice in Caen + tried to set up as a printer at Paris, but without success. he settled in Antwerp in 1549, starting as a bookseller + bookbinder. The Hebrew O.T. starts at the end of the volume, + the Greek N.T. at the beginning followed by the Geek Apocrypha; each of the 2 parts having its own separate title. It was Fuchsius who first recognized the plant in 1542 + named it 'digitalis', an allusion to the German name of Fingerhut, which signifies a thimble on a finger stall, from the blossoms resembling the finger of a glove. The plant Foxglove, probably from folk's glove (ie. fairies' glove) is known by a great variety of names. It is commonly found in many parts of Europe but is a native plant in only some parts of N. America, for example the Pacific Northwest.
