Le V. Maxime est le premier livre sur lequel apparait
la marque de M. Huss, qui est formee des lettres
M + H en monogramme.

Valerius composed his 9 books of "The Memorable Deeds +
Sayings" for use in schools + for the study of rhetoric. Each
portreist was intended by the author to offer guidelines for behavior
on aspects of virtue + vice. However, Valerius is now
treasured for the light his writings shed on the social history,
customs + mannner of ancient Rome. It also provides
information of the reighn of Tiberius that does not exist in any
other sources.

of the order of St. John of Jerusalem in 1375. He died
while working on the 7th book + the work was completed
by Nicolas de Gonesse. [end crossed out]
