The Geistliche Auslegung is a poor piece of book-making, and as
far as the illustrations are concerned it is made up in a
somewhat haphazard manner, blocks of various sizes
and in somewhat diverse state of preservation being fitted
into the requisite spaces by the provision of printed
rules, for border lines, outside the blocks.

Auslegung - teaches the story of the Life of Christ, illust. each
episode with a woodcut and ending in a prayer. In this arrangement
as well as in the use of a visual image to impose on the
mind for prayer and meditation, it is similar to the Vita
Christi. Unlike that work the Auslegung exists only in
German and was directed specifically at a lay audience.
