Separate foliation of roman numerals for each "etes" with the number of the 'etes' at head of each leaf. Rubricated in red + blue.

Initials - the 1st example of what are called passe - partouts, the central picture being removable at will + adaptable to any frame Lubck - 5 printers are known to have worked these during the 15th C. The Rudimentum was a i somce for the more recent events recorded in the Fasiculus. The chronological arrangement of the Rudimentum is sustained not through continuous time lines as in the Fasiculus but in the genealogical charts which are illust. to portraits + scenes

In the profatory matter the author remarks that he has translated (or rather adopted) his book from the Rudimentum Novitiorum, to additional matter concerning the kings of France (Charles VIII) (uinprimeur de Roi - 1487-1493) -accession 1483 Quotlibeta Piere le Rouge printed 2 books at Chablis) 1478+83 He next appears in Paris where the Ockam of 27 Feb 1487/8 is the 1st ed. to bear his name. His press continued to work until 1492.

The Fasciculus Temporum was the first + most popular of the printed Epitomes of History, being quickly followed by the anonymous Rudimentum Noviciorum of Lubeck, 1473 (translated into French es La Mer des Hystoires.)

P. Le Rouge est a l'egal de Jean Du Pre et de Guy Manchant, l'un des imprimeus francais qui on le plus contribue au procris artistique du livre. Claudin c'est servi pour ce livre d'un gros caracters de batarde d'envison 14 points. L'ouvnage feut imprime pout le compte du librare Vincent Commin et Piere le Rouge. Since the accession of Hugh Capet in 987 Paris has been the capital of France.

The Speculum Sancte Mariae Virginis is intercalated between the chapters of the Speculum humanae salvationia; the latter is accompanied by a German Translation + followed by a Latin summary by Johannes, monk at St. Ulrich + Afra. - a frequently consulted source of inspiration for artists in the late 14 + 15th C, the Speculum + its illustrations remain today a key guide to our understanding of the often obscure symbolism of the art of this period. Rosenwald Z881 U58ro Stanford - The Speculum Sanctae Mariae Virginis is intercalated between the chapters of the Speculum humanae salvationis; the latter is accompanied by a German translation + followed by a Latin metrical summary by Johannes, monk at St. Ulrich und Afra. - printed together with another work intercalated into the chapters of the Speculum. The Latin text is printed beneath the cuts, followed by a translation of the chapter into German + a metrical summary by Brother Johannes of the Abbey.
