Type 116 (P. 1*, 1A ,1b) text type , at first appears - German
forms, in which state it is described as 116*. The German
h disappears after 10 Feb 1473, & is replaced in the German
Boccaccio De claris mulieribus of 1473 by the tailed
Latin h. Copied from G. Zainers 1st type (117) but
differs in v & the absence of the alternative crossed A &
the low tailed d. Used from Jan 1473 , till 1476.

J. Zainer began in 1473 at Ulm a less distinguished career
than his relative - an edition of Boccaccio's of Famous [inserted]J. Zainer's 1st fully illust. book.[end inserted]
Women . Its 80 (76 -81) woodcuts of 79/81 women are all in contemporary
German dress , whether they represent Cleopatra or a
Greek goddess . They are set in close relation to J. Zainer's
lighter smaller Type & embellished - fantastic little capitals
shaped of serpents , birds or , twisted leaf forms .
William Morris called it "a work of art." Represents the deeds
& fame of some of the outstanding women throughout history.
