Darlow & Maule # 4185 3rd Low German Bible
Independent version as far as 2 Kings vii , thereafter both
text & woodcuts are mainly borrowed from the Cologne Bible.
The glosses by N. de Lyna & by other doctors (especially
Hugo de Sancto Victore) are incorporated in the Text.
No foliation or signatures . - many woodcuts.
- The Lubeck Bible has followed the text of the Cologne Bibles
after II kings (II Sanmuel) 7, - some minor exception where
an independent translation is in evidence , as it is also
from genesis to II Kings 7.
- the 152 woodcuts are the product of 2 distinct artists
oblong & cover both columns of the text.

The 2 anterior editions (both without dates ) was printed
at Cologne - There is much similarity between the 2nd
Cologne ed. and this one.
It was from the 9th German Bible (1483 - the year of
Luther's birth) and translation that Luther borrowed so
freely in his translation of 1532.
