Dear Sir,

I have in my possession a privately
published book entitled "The 48th Royal Marine
Commando" the story of its formation in March '44
to its disbandment in January '46. As with all
official war records it deals only with facts
and to anybody not actually there it could
make pretty dull reading. Although the
actual D-day landing is only contained
in three or four pages I feel it may be
of some little help to your proposed book.

This book is one of my treasured
possessions and for this reason I am sure
you will appreciate my reluctance in sending
it to you without some sort of assurance
that it will be returned.
