In times of great crisis, people generally show either great ingenuity or self-reliance; others do incredibly stupid things. Do you remember any examples of either from D-day? none of significance

Where were you at midnight on June 5, 1944? On Fly ship- Bayfield. Had midnight snack with members of 8 Inf Regiment Col Strickland loaded down with first, wt, was a comedy and pity and an "april fool" to me as I had not expect him to be such a real fighter as he turned out to be

Where were you at midnight on June 6, 1944? Inland about 2 miles at a farm house & barnyard.

Do you know of anybody else who landed within 24 hours of D-Day, June 6, as infantry, glider, or airborne troops, or who took part in the air and sea operations, whom we should write to? Msr Henri Renard and family of St Mere Eglise work close to the whole story. I did not land but they were mixed up with paratroopers, Germans, 4th Div. , billed civilians, heroirs, etc. I suggest you read his book - Ste Mere Eglise - also contact him. A great source of silline data.

PLEASE LET US HAVE THIS QUESTIONNAIRE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, SO THAT WE CAN INCLUDE YOUR EXPERIENCES BT THE BOOK. WE HOPE THAT YOU WILL CONTINUE YOUR STORY ON SEPARATE SHEETS IP WE HAVE NOT LEFT SUFFICIENT ROOM. FULL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT WILL BE GIVEN IN A CHAPTER CALLED "WHERE THEY ARE NOW;" YOUR NAME AND VOCATION OR OCCUPATION WILL BE LISTED.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. Cornelius Ryan
