Dear Sir,
Thank you for your courteous reply of 9 June. My replies to your
request for specific amplification are inclosed. I would make this
point, however: I answered your original questionnaire in quite
personalized detail, which the terms of reference seemed to call for. But,while I do not have a passion for anonymity, neither do I have a
compulsion for attribution.

Notwithstanding, as a professional officer of(now)considerable
tenure, I was and am glad to furnish you details about D-Day, in the
frame of reference that the troops who participated deserve any
contribution which will honor or distinguish them.

I am returning the signed release you requested, but I trust you
will find no need for my name beyond that as a
contributor to your
laudable research.
