GENERAL AFFIDAVIT
State of Ohio, County of Greene, SS
In the matter of wid of Jackson Smith "C" 100 U.S.C.T. #261732 ON THIS 6th day of August A.D. 1883; personally appeared before me a Clerk of Court in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths Willis Moxley aged 43 years, a resident of Xenia in the County of Greene and State of Ohio whose Post Office address is Xenia Ohio well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declared in relation to aforesaid case as follows:
I was a private in Company "B" 100 U.S.C.T. and was well acquainted with Jackson Smith of Company "C" same regiment. I well remember that while our regiment was at Camp Foster near Nashville, Tenn in 1864 in 1865 I cant now give the exact date, he was taken with a severe cold and cough and sent to Hospital at Nashville Tennessee I saw him in regt. hospital a while, did not see him in the general Hospital he came out of hospital in spring of 1865 I think when he came to the regiment he [] bad had a severe cough. I know he was a [] sent to hospital. He was very sick & had a bad cough I know he had some trouble with his feet & ankles swelling at that time, He and I both came here together right after we were discharged about Christmas n New Years 1865-6 . I knew him well from then on up to his death in 1874, and I knew he was in poor health from his discharge until his death had a bad cough was weakly looking and died of lung disease, and of disease he contracted in the U.S. Service. I saw him about daily from his discharge until his death. I know that he and Ary Smth lived and cohabited as man & wife. Affiant further declare that he has no interest in said case and is not concerned in its prosecution.

GENERAL AFFIDAVIT.

in the matter of widow of Jack Smth "C" 100 U.S.C.T. # 261732 ON THIS 6th day of August A.D. 1883 personally appeared before me a Clerk of Court in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths James Glass, aged 44 years, a resident of Xenia in the County of Greene and State of Ohio whose Post Office address is Xenia Ohio well know to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declared in relation to aforesaid case as follows:
I was in Company "B" 100 U.S.C.T. and was well acquainted with Jackson Smith of "C" 100 U.S.C.T. I know he was a healthy man at enlistment and was such until we were about Nashville, Tenn and he took sick and was sent to the hospital at Nashville regt hospital. He had a bad cold and a bad cough He was in hospital for about 2 or 3 months this was in winter and spring of 1865 I was sick in the hospital at the same time in same hospital and remember clearly of this fact of his being there and his being very sick with cold and cough but can't tell just what his disease was called but I know he had a severe cough. He was coughing when he left hospital in [] of 1865. I knew him well from discharge his discharge until his death both lived together here in Xenia Ohio and I saw him almost daily and we worked together a great deal I know personally he never did get well of his lung disease & cough he had in service, and died of it in 1874 here in Xenia Ohio.
Affiant further declare that he has no interest in said case and is not concerned in its prosecution.
