Dearest Mother,

Well, tomorrow I leave for Garmisch again. Sure
hope I have as nice a time there as I did the last time.
The only thing I don't like about the whole thing is the
trip down in an open truck. Especially when it is as
cold as it has been lately.

Well, I finally heard from Johnnie. He made it
home by Christmas, infact he made it home on Christmas
Day exactly!! I know it must have been a happy day for
him and his family. I hope to be feeling the warmth of
that happiness before too long too. He said the picture
of us had arrived and was hanging on the Christmas tree
when he walked in the house.

Just came back from the show. Saw Eddie Bracken
and V. Lake in "Hold That Blonde". Sure was funny. I
don't remember when I have ever laughed as much. Did
you see it?

Also received a letter from you to-day, plus the
letter with the picture corners in it. In fact today
was a big day all round as far as mail goes. There was
Johnnie's , yours, Albertine's, Freddie's, Jessie's and
Adra's. Really hit the Jack-Pot!

Certainly hope that Tommie is getting better. The
letter today said that he was eating a lot better. Hope
that means a turn for the better.

Now, if I'm lucky, it seems I ought to be seeing
old good U.S.A. soil about the last of February or the
first part of March. Even at the best I'll be 21 full
years of age when you next see me. 21!!! The age when
a grown boy becomes a man. Funny but I still feel just
as childish and full of nonsense as I ever did, as a
matter of fact, the fellows around here can't understand
how I can manage to be so happy no matter what the con-
ditions. Guess I was just born to have a good time out
of life, for no one can be as happy as I am when I want
to be and no one can be as sad as I when I want to be.
