HOW WORN
SERVICE COAT
The insignia of rank is worn on the shoulder of the
service coat, about one half inch from the sleeve end of the
shoulder loop.
MAJORS. With the point of the leaves up.
THE COLLAR ORNAMENTS ARE WORN AS FOLLOWS
The letters U.S. are worn on both sides of the collar one
inch from the front edge
When more than 370 letters are worn as U.S.R.,U.S.V. etc. they
are worn 5/8 of an inch from the front edge.
The exact type of letter for those commissioned in the
National Army is not known at this time, but should it consist of
two letters superi posed by two more, or of two letters with two
smaller ones on top, the first rule will govern.
INSIGNIA OF THE BRANCH OF SERVICE
The above insignia will be worn 5/8 of an inch from the
letters U.S. and 1/2 of an inch from the letters U.S.R.
SHIRT
The same spacing will hold for the collar ornaments on the
shirt but they differ in arraingement.

GENERAL NOTE
SLEEVE OF COAT
All officers except those of the General Staff Corps will
wear a bandof brown braid 1/2 inch wide on the sleeves, the lower
edge of which will be 3 inches from the end of sleeve. For officers
of the General Staff Corps the braid will be black
OVERCOAT
Same as that issued to the enlisted men except that the
buttons are of horn and there is no cuff or flap on the sleeve
INSIGNIA ON SLEEVE OF OVERCOAT
Officers below the rank of general, except officers of the General
Staff Corps. A knot composed of three loops of one large upper and
two smaller loops, of 1/8 inch black soutache. Ends of knot resting
on bottom of sleeve
COLONEL 5 ROWS GENERAL OFFICERS. A band of
LIEUT. " 4 " lustrous black mohair braid,
MAJOR 3 " 11/4 inches wide 2 1/2 inches
CAPTAIN 2 " above end of sleeve a second
FIRST LIEUTENANT 1" band 1 1/2 inches above the
lower.
THOSE ENTITLED TO WEAR THE DIFFERENT INSIGNIA
U.S. Only officers of the regular army
U.S.R. Reserve officers allready appointed, Provisional Second Lieu-
tenants not assigned to regiments, and office rs appointed
in the Officers Reserve Corps.
Officers appointed in the National Army are not entitled to
wear either of the above.
ALL MEN IN THE MILITARY SERVICE ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR THE UNIFORM
AT ALL TIMES.
