Emerson, Thoreau and none of
these graves are marked by any
thing showy but each brings out
extreme modesty, stately simplicity.
I went to "The old Manse" where
Hawthorne wrote. "The mosses from
an Old Manse" and where Emerson
spent his boyhood. It is now
owned by Mr. Brown's dear friend
Mrs Ames. a decendant of Emerson's
and the daughter of the lady
who is ordering The Tray from
the Industry.
