July 18th Dead calm all day. dry & hot. Saw killers & porpoise. Finished boiling at 4 P.M. made a new head for one junk cask. Whales are scarce with us this season so far.
Another day gone.
Lat N. 34º-11’ Lon. W. 32º-45’
19th Calm in early morning. gathering light ... from S.S.W at 4, made sail + turned IV. took in sail at sundown and ... to wind on port tack.
saw
took sails out of last sail cask and stowed in star
board house. got cask ... ready for water also one ... cask, ... cask and a rum cask emptied and flagged for water.

20th Fine whaling day. with wind SW to W
breeze except midday when we got a
wind and rain squall. rain down
of oil this AM ... water into the
casks, fitted between desks. saw one two mast
schr. went on board & got a newspaper (July 6) & a bucket of potatoes. found her to be a N.Y pilot boat (No. 2)
bought by J. C. Sylvia for C.V.I. trade he with two others Alais Turick formed the crew. bound to St. Vincent with foodstuff. 34-20 52-20 D.R.
so ends this day
21st Calm until 5PM then got
from ESE with rain saw nothing today.
