JoNewell; Page 117; This officer served in the what looks like the CM Rifles in 1847. I wonder if this could be the Cape Mounted Riflemen stationed at the Cape of Good Hope, as he was in South Africa in 1847.
The 91st Regiment formed a Reserve Battalion in 1842. I think this what 'Res Batt' refers to in his service record. They did serve during the 7th Xhosa War of 1846.
