the bliss of Heaven. It is impossible because heaven is
a holy place, because God himself and all the glorified
spirits are holy, because the employments of Heaven
are holy &c.

During one of the prayers, somewhat to my surprise
Uncle Jonathan came walking in, in his dressing-gown
and soiled vest, escorted by Patrick, and evidently having
come without the knowledge of Henry and Emmie, who
were at home. On inquiry it seems that he told
Patrick to lead him there, for he always went to church.
It attracted some attention, and disturbed Aunt somewhat.
After meeting we had dinner, and then Henry, Emmie
and I went to walk. Emmie and I attended monthly
concert in the vestry this evening. Uncle has been
having a very wild spell, talking fast and crossly to
aunt, and appearing to be almost crazy - I hold he
will be better in the morning

Monday, June 7.
A very pleasant and happy day, spent quietly at
home. Soon after breakfast Emmie and I went up
through the grove to Mr Potter's, as she wished him
to come down this evening and fire at a mark with
Henry. While she made her call I stayed in the
grove and read, Neptune keeping me company, then we
came home and worked, Emmie on her blue silk dress,
I on my new lawn bonnet, at which I continued through
