Bemis, Charles V.Dr. Charles Vose Bemis (16 Jun 1816 - 6 Nov 1906). [[Lot 4637]].
Bemis studied under <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Collins_Warren">Dr. John Collins Warren</a> and was present at Massachusetts General Hospital on October 16, 1846 during the historic demonstration of ether anesthesia performed by Warren and [[Morton, William T. G.|Dr. William T. G. Morton]]. A brief retrospective of these events authored by Bemis was published in the Boston Medical and Surgical Journal in 1897, titled "<a href="https://zenodo.org/record/1839577">Personal Recollections of the Introduction of Anesthesia</a>."
