Stone, David (1747-1824)

OverviewVersions

Description

Land Owner.

(1747-1824). Brother of Nathaniel Stone. He is number 186 in the Simon Stone Genealogy available in Hathi Trust.

From his father's will in 1793, he inherited an undivided half interest in the fifty-six acre paternal homestead, "the center of which was near the corner of the present Grove Street and Coolidge Avenue, and which extended east to the original Simon Stone homestead at Mount Auburn and south to the Charles River." The other undivided half was left to his brother Nathaniel, to whom David soon conveyed his own half to, so that Nathaniel secured sole possession of the entirety of the land.

Not to be confused with his nephew David Stone (1792-1869), who would inherit part of the land upon Nathaniel's death in 1843.
