(1773 - 1850) Captain Josiah Sturgis was a prominent Boston shipmaster. He was a Captain in the U. S. Revenue Service (now Coast Guard), and Master of the USRC (United States Revenue Cutter) Hamilton (1830-1853), famous for rescues and saving of property.
