Mr. Edward Austin
Dear Sir
Your favor of May 29 is
received. The myrtle was replaced last fall
as you directed but was killed by severe
weather during the winter - all the new myrtle here
with hardly an exception, during the winter.
The winds were so severe and there being so
little snow that it was impossible to keep
a sufficient covering on to protect the roots.
The myrtle in your lot was replaced this spring
and as yet has hardly had time to make much
growth. I trust this will be satisfactory. As to
the holly bush I have to acknowledge an error.
The matter was overlooked in some way last fall
and spring. I will see to it that it is put in
the lot next spring if you wish it done.
Very Respectfully
J.W. Lovering Sup.t
