C.S. Curtis Esq one of the Committee on Lots at Mount Auburn

Sir it appears by the communication I received from you dated Nov 28 that I have not pursued a course agreeable to the trustees in regard to laying out Lots, And as you intimated in the conversation I had with you on Saturday that it might be necessary to have the bodies removed from them, or in other words the committee could not approve the course I have taken in relation to laying out small lots. My abject in writing you now is to request an interview with you before there is any action by the committee As it would place me in a very unhappy situation with those proprietors who have paid for their lots & occupied them, should they be required to give them up. As a humble servant to execute the will of the trustees I should be exceedingly grieved to do or have done any thing to meet their disaprobation or detrimental to the prosperity of Mount Auburn.

In regard to three small Lots I have your aprobation, received at the time they were laid out. Alow me to say here that I labour under great disadvantage in seeing the Committee on Lots within the hours I spend in Boston having made several unsuccessful efforts the past season.

Will you have the goodness to inform me when at your office which of the Committee I am expected to meet, to receive my authority for action in relation to lots as there have been some cases in which I have been refered from one to the other without a definite answer in season for the purpose for which it was intended.

Truly yours, Rufus Howe Supt
