and care increasing in consequence of the present
style of enclosing their lots with Stone, instead of [crow?]
fences, to say nothing of other changes that have been
made, that if you see fit to reelect me for the
ensuing year, I respectfully ask you gentlemen
to increase my salary. The Expenses of living
has increased 33 % during the 18 months I have been
here, and up to this present time, I have drawn
over and above my Salary the sum of $425⁰⁰ from my private resources, in order to defray the
current expenses of my family, which altho it is not
large, is by no means extravagant!
