" The Committee on Lots, referring to a report made
" by them at the last meeting of the Board, have further
" considered whether, and in what way the new Receiving-
" Tomb
may be completed.

" There seems to have been originally an understanding
" that the tomb should contain a sufficiently large number
" of catacombs to admit of their sale for permanent occupation.
" The Committee have thought such a design, if actually
" entertained at first, would not be adopted or endorsed
" by the present Board, and they therefore only contemplate
" in their recommendations the construction of a suitable
" place for the temporary deposit of bodies.

" Inasmuch as the Board have had an opportunity,
" within the past month, of visiting the Cemetery, examining
" the tomb in its present condition, and ascertaining on the
" spot all the particulars connected therewith, it is not
" necessary for the Committee to enter upon any detailed
" description of it.

" But for the purpose of stating their conclusions, and
" thereby bringing the whole subject definitely before the Board,
" the Committee recommend that the section containing
" fifty catacombs, now erected, be taken down, that a new
" section, to contain sixty catacombs on each side, one hundred
" and twenty in all, be constructed; and that the tomb
" be thereupon fully completed, with a floor, a proper
