Your Committee deem it unnecessary to state in
detail the doings of many subsequent meetings of the
Board called to consider the charges made against
Mr Mann, and the affairs of the Cemetery, at some
of which Mr Mann was present, though he after-
wards, by the advice of counsel, declined attending
and at which partial reports were made by the Com-
mittee on the investigation of his accounts; suffice it
to say that at a meeting on the ,
after a most laborious, patient and careful Exam-
ination of the books of the Superintendent and of bills
receipted by Mr Mann, procured from Proprietors, the
Committee by Mr Chas G. Nazro then Chairman,
reported that there appeared a large deficit in the
accounts of Mr Mann, amounting to about Eighteen
thousand dollars ($18,233.92) as far as ascer-
tained, and that a fuller examinaton might
reveal a still further deficit.

At their meeting a committee was appointed to
commence a suit against Mr Mann, and to pros-
ecute the claim against him. _ Under the direction
of the Committee a suit was immediately commenced,
and soon after the Entry of the action, under an
order of Court, the accounds were referred to an Au-
ditor, who in reported that after a
very protracted hearing and a thorough investigation
of the cases, and after arguments by counsel on both
sides, and an adjustment of a large number of the items
in controversy, there appeared to be due from the
defendant; Mr Mann, the sum of two thousand
