_________________ Report: ________________

Many years ago, the rule was established
by the Board of Trustees, that no person
should be admitted on horseback, in
consequence of abuses to which that prac-
tice was liable. Carriages must be
kept in the regular drive-ways and
but little injury is liable to occur to the
grounds in consequence of their admission,
particularly if the rules be enforced regarding
the rate at which they may be driven;
but a person riding in the saddle can very
easily cross through the narrow paths or even
over some of the lots, and in this way
much injury might be done to the grounds;
and experience has proved in similar cases
that the "Golden Rule" is but a feeble barrier
agains acts of this description. _ There
is a class of persons, and that by no
means a small one, who can be made
to respect the rights of their fellow citizens
