Yeas & nays ordered

Voted that the question be taken by yea & nay.
The main questions being put, it was decided in the
negative by the following vote. _

Minority Rept rejected

Yea. - Messrs Crocker, McKean, Nazro & Tisdale
Nay - Messrs Curtis, Gould, Lawrence & Read.

The President giving the casting vote in the negative . _

Majority Rept adopted by yea & nay vote _

Mr Gould now renewed his motion for the accept-
ance of the majority report, and that the question be taken by
yea & nay - & the report was accepted by the follow-
ing vote. -
Yea- Messrs Curtis, Gould, Lawrence & Read _
Nay- Messrs Crocker, McKean, Nazro & Tisdale.
the President deciding the tie by his yea. _

Voted that both the majority & minority reports on the
Statuary be recorded as well as filed, _

The majority report is as follows. _

"The Committee appointed 'to examine, consider, & report
whether any or all of the contracts for making statuary for
the Chapel can be rescinded', have met & considered the
subject referred to them, _ and a majority of the Committee
report _ that, although a legal contract can be rescinded
by the consent of both the parties to it, one of the parties cannot
do so: He may repudiate or break the contract, subjecting
himself, of course, to reclamation by the other party, but
he cannot rescind it. As the artists, with whom the contracts
for Statuary have been made, are in Italy, it has not
