To the gentlemen, trustees of the Mount Auburn Cemetery.

Dear Sirs,

with the close of the present month will terminate nine years, since I commenced the duties of Superintendent.

Taking into consideration the growing duties, and responsibilities of the situation, the compensation given, the accomodations provided for accomplishing the duties formely pointed out: I feel it a duty, (should it be my fortune to render further service) to say, that it will be neccessary to have a new understanding between us.
