Gray, John C.

(1791-1881) Mount Auburn Trustee from 1847-1849. Subscriber to [[Joseph Story Statue|Story Statue]]. A founding member and first vice president (1829-1833) of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. Owned land in the area some of which he sold to the Massachusetts Horticultural Society to become part of the Cemetery and retained land next to the parcel that became the Reception House. Land Owner. Brother of [[Gray, Henry|Henry Gray]], [[Gray, William R.|William R. Gray]], [[Gray, Francis C.|Francis C. Gray]], and [[Gray, Horace|Horace Gray]].
