Colonel Thomas Handasyd Perkins (December 15, 1764 – January 11, 1854), was a wealthy Boston merchant and an archetypical Boston Brahmin. His philanthropic contributions include Perkins School for the Blind, renamed in his honor; the Boston Museum of Fine Arts; McLean Hospital; along with having a hand in founding the Massachusetts General Hospital.

A subscriber to the Story Statue. He is buried on Lot 108 with the rest of his family. In 1843, he commissioned Horatio Greenough to sculpt the Newfoundland dog monument that now sits atop the Perkins family tomb.
