Know all men by these presents, that I, Thomas Crawford of Rome, Italy in consideration of the sum of two thousand five hundred dollars to me paid by the Proprietors of the Cemetery of Mount Auburn, a Corporation established by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged.) do hereby sell, transfer and convey unto said Proprietors the plaster model of the statue of James Otis, recently made by me, of the full size of said statue in marble now in process of execution, according to the terms of the contract between me + said Proprietors dated .

To have & to hold to said Proprietors, their successors & assigns, to their own proper use forever:- but subject, nevertheless to my right to retain possession of, & to use the same in the further & final prosecution of the work upon said marble statue, without prejudice to the right of said Proprietors to sue for & recover possession of the same upon my failure to complete said statue according to the terms of said contract, reference to which is hereby made._

And I the said Thomas Crawford for myself, & my heirs, Executors and Admin-
