The Committee on Grounds to whom was
referred the proposition of Dr Jacob Bigelow,
late President of the Corporation, to give to the
Proprietors of Mt Auburn Cemetery a granite
Statue of a Sphinx - which statue is now
said to be in a state of forwardness, and
liable soon to arrive here — recommend
the Trustees to accept said statue on behalf
of the Corporation, whenever the same finished
complete, together with a suitable pedestal,
shall be delivered at Mt Auburn by Dr. Bigelow;
and that the expenses of transportation of said
statue from the Gate of the Cemetery to the place
of erection, together with the cost of erection
of the same, and the construction of a suitable
