The last word came to Pearl from Patience:
Had I a bramble all a tangle,
A web bound round a spine,
A listless breeze o' summer,
I'd scribe this song of thine.
A stormy April morning,
A whimsey thistle down,
A thread o' golden sunlight,
I make this song o' thine.
To sing a song in measure,
Rhythmed and rhymed and true -
Would ne'er to fit 'ee follied,
A whimsey's song for you!
