For lo, thou hast looked upon
The quickening of the spirit and its departure
From the tabernacle, going forth
Gladsomely and leaving thee
A surety upon which to build.
I say that the curtaining awhither
Meant but the instant ere
A babe wakes. I tell thee
That in the magic of understanding
There be no severing and through
The common cup welded
In this strange kinship which hath been
Born out a common love, is a thing
Which bears the smite e'en of Death
Without the sting.
Behold I sing in a glad voice,
Of her whom thou and thou
And thou and thou art sistered unto.
Yea, I shall acclaim unto thee
The gladness which is thine
And thine, and thine, and thine, in her!

-And the Water became Wine-
Lo, did the vineyard give forth
And the vats drip bittered wine.
Lo, did the day sear and the lips
Parch and there wert naught
But the bittered wine.
And behold! presented she the chalice
For the pouring and drunk deep and thanked
And became drunken of confusion,
Becoming filled of a questioning, yet supping
Unafraid, the bitterness. And behold,
His hand sought and the cup wert filled
Of crystal water; for the drought
E'en dried the bitters. And she wept
That the chalice be filled and He
Touched and the water became wine!
