information-about-overseas-service: Stationed in various parts of England during May, 1944. Sailed for France on July 17, 1944. Landed on Utah Beach and proceeded to Barneville, France. Saw action with 168th Engineer Combat Battalion which was attached to Third Army. During battle for the Brest Peninsular, the 168th was attached to the Ninth Army when the Third Army bypassed this area. Was killed near town of St. Renan, France, on September 7, 1944. Is interred in St. James American Military Cemetery located several miles from village of St. James, France.
