page-4: My son did not live with me at the time he enlisted in the Marines. Some time prior to May 13th at which time he was inducted. When I left New Market to go to Baltimore, he did not want to go to the city therefore, he went to live with his Grandfather and went to high school from there. He graduated from the Broadway High School in June of 1941. I have no way of knowing the exact length of time he was stationed at either Paris Island, S.C. or New River, N.C. although this information can be [sucred?] from the Navy Department. All the circumstances we have been able to get leading up to his death were from one his buddies who came to our house to spend the week end after he had returned to the States. This information I would also think would be furnished by the Navy Department. We will be glad to furnish you with a photograph if you so desire.
