CIVILIAN OCCUPATIONS: WATERMAN--Was self-employed in Broadwater, Virginia for 22 years prior to entering Army. Caught oysters, clams, crabs, etc. in season. Removed oysters from beds by dredging and tonging. Operated dredge and tonging equipment. Dug clams from beaches and in shallow water. Used spade to dig clams on beach and a net basket in the shallow water. Caught crabs using nets. Brought catches to shore and sold them to dealers.
