proper Materials for clarifying ( which the smallness of
the quantity rendered unnecessary) it is not so while as I
could make it. My Proposal therefore, Gentleman is (if
you are pleased to encourage such an undertaking ) that
each County advance me a small sum to enable me to erect
and carry on the work in some proper and convenient Place,
and I will on my part, engage to make Salt enough to supply
all Virginia, sufficiently fair and as strong as any imported.
I hope Gentlemen, you will be pleased to consider this Proposal
not barely benefiting me, but of the highest advantage to this
Country and should it meet with a favourable reception, and
assistance equal to so great an undertaking, for a due per-
formance on my part, am ready and willing, if required, to
give such Security as you shall think reasonable. I beg leave
to subscribe myself
Gentlemen
Your most obedient servant
