April 24, 1928.

The President of the Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club presided at the
Meeting held in the Unitarian Parish House April twenty-fourth.

The report of the recording secretary as read was approved.

Mrs. Walter E. Henderson stated that arrangements had been made
for the Club luncheon to be held May fourteenth at the Weber Duck Inn.
The price of the luncheon will be One Dollar and Forty Cents and the
round trip by automobile One Dollar.

Miss Rose Dexter spoke briefly concerning the activities of the
Traveler’s Aid Society, of their need of workers and money and made
an appeal for friendship and sympathetic interest in the Society.

Under the auspices of the Home Economics Department, Miss
Minnie A. Gilbert, Chairman, introduced Mr. Ralph W. Burnham whose
subject was Hooked Rugs. In an informal and interesting talk,
the speaker informed the members of the Club of the revival of the
art of making hooked rugs which are a product of our ancestors.
Judging from the rugs collectors, have found, the finest makers in
the United States lives near Waldoboro, Maine although fine
specimens have been secured in Essex County, Massachusetts
and Rockingham County, New Hampshire. Mr. Burnham
is a collector of hooked rugs and he exhibited many of his
choice specimens which are of great artistic beauty. The
speaker referred briefly to the collecting of antique furniture
and in closing displayed a copy of the great seal of the
United States. This reproduction is a work of art and
consists of silk embroidery on silk and was made about
eighteen hundred thirty. The speaker answered questions from
the floor.

Respectfully submitted,

I've marked my uncertain words with an asterisk for proofing. Also, having volunteered last year with LGH to scan Tuesday Club Meeting Minutes, I'm thrilled to see this project up and running!
