Regular Meeting. Feb. 19, 1924
The regular meeting of the Tuesday Club
was held in upper Eliot Hall, February
nineteenth and was opened by the President.
It was an open meeting in charge of
Mrs. Thomas G. Rees, Chairman of the
Social Service and Legislative Department,
and the speakers were Mrs. William Lowell
Putnam, and the Hon. B. Loring Young,
Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Mrs. Putnam's subject was "The Foreigner
as a Future Citizen, and she urged the
necessity of a better understanding and a
keener recognition of the many fine
qualities of the foreigner who truly seeks
American citizenship. Almost without
exception when the foreigner is asked his
greatest desire, the reply is "Education".
Mr. Young spoke on "The General Court of
Massachusetts" and the "Executive Budget
System" giving a clear and convincing, as
well as enjoyable talk.
