GLOXINIA
MADEIRA VINE
PEARL TUBEROSE
TRITOMA PFITZERI
FANCY FLOWERED GLOXINIA
We know of no bulbous plant that will give such universal satisfaction as the Gloxinia. Their charming trumpet-shaped flowers are exquisitely tinted, blotched or tigered with miniature dots of violet, pink or crimson. They are of the easiest culture in pots and bloom continuously for months. We have a grand strain of Hybrid Gloxinias in mixed colors or in separate colors of crimson, rose, scarlet, violet, white, etc. The Gloxinia may be handled with success anywhere if given good, rich, light soil and a partially shady situation until well started into growth. Each 10c; doz. $1.00.
GIANT FLOWERED ISMENE
Really one of the most lovely of the great Amaryllis family, having a peculiar grandeur which one can appreciate at sight, but can not describe. The flowers are very large and of snowy whiteness and are also exceedingly fragrant. The bulbs bloom in a few weeks after planting. As a pot plant it is grand, and as a garden bulb treated like a gladiolus, it is the choicest of all flowers. Each 15c; doz. $1.50.
MADEIRA VINE
Also called Mignonette Vine and Mexican Vine. A beautiful tuberous rooted climber, with glossy green leaves and handsome racemes of fragrant white flowers. The vine makes a very rapid growth and a few plants will cover a trellis or cottage wall in a single season. It is a very pretty thing to use for shading a porch or veranda. Each 5c; doz. 45c.
MONTBRETIA
CROCOSMIFLORA.--A new summer-flowering bulb, easier than the gladiolus to grow, but can be planted earlier and left in the ground later, as they are so hardy they continue to bloom after fall frosts. One of the brightest and most winsome flowers we know of. From July to October they are one mass of flowers, spike after spike of the flame-like beauties appearing. Very fine for cutting. Each 5c; doz. 40c.
SUMMER FLOWERING OXALIS
No bulb is so valuable for edging the borders of walks or flower beds as the beautiful flowering Oxalis. When planted three inches apart they produce an unbroken row of elegant foliage and pretty flowers; and they bloom very quickly after planting.
SHAMROCK.--Leaves resemble four-leaf clover; flowers rose color and borne in profusion on vine-like stems. Pretty for border. Doz. 10c; 100 50c; mammoth bulbs per doz. 15c.
DIEPPI ALBA.--Pretty low-growing variety with light green leaves and clusters of pure white bell-shaped flowers; blooms profusely. Doz. 10c; 100 for 40c.
LASIANDRA.--Large, dark green, palmate or five-fingered leaves, with clusters of rosy pink flowers. This is taller than above. A most satisfactory bulb for bordering flower beds. Doz. 10c; 100 for 50c; mammoth bulbs, doz. 15c.
RESURRECTION PLANT
A curiosity sure to interest children. Looks like a ball of dried moss, but when dropped into a bowl of tepid water it quickly opens out into a beautiful fern-like plant. It is not planted in earth. Each 10c; 3 for 25c.
TIGRIDIA
PEACOCK OR SHELL FLOWER.--Showy summer bulbs, blooming freely from midsummer until frost. Large, wide open, triangular blooms. Colors and markings are very brilliant and peculiar, odd and attractive. Clumps of them in a border have a most gorgeous effect. Very easily grown. Each 5c; doz. 50c.
TRITOMA
PFITZERI.--(Flaming Torch.)--Flower spikes are produced in great freedom and are gigantic in size, frequently 3 to 4 feet high. The flowers are of rich orange scarlet, shaded to a rich salmon rose at the edge. A bed of these in bloom is a grand sight, or, scattered through a flower garden it adds brightness and is in its glory when nearly all other flowers are seared with early frost. Each 20c; 3 for 50c.
TUBEROSE
NEW EXCELSIOR PEARL.--The tuberose is justly a universal favorite and very easily grown. This variety has short, robust stem and long spikes of large flowers, which are perfectly double and twice the size of the common tuberose, while of equally delicious fragrance. Spikes frequently bear 30 to 50 flowers, remaining in bloom for a long time. They are always wax-like, pure white, and unsurpassed for buttonhole bouquets. Monster bulbs each 7c; doz. 65c. First size bulbs each 5c; doz. 40c. Second size, doz. 25c; 100 for $1.25.
MEXICAN SINGLE.--Grows 3 ft. high, producing two to five flower stems from one bulb. Flowers single, pure white, much pleasanter in fragrance than the Pearl. Each 5c; doz. 40c.
VARIEGATED LEAVED.--Leaf bordered creamy white; flowers single but very large and exqisitely [exquisitely] fragrant. Bulbs continue to grow and bloom year after year. Each 5c; doz. 50c.
ZEPHYRANTHES
Popularly known as "Zephyr Flowers" and "Fairy Flowers. They are among our most beautiful dwarf bulbous plants, very effective for planting out in masses in the spring, flowering with great profusion during summer. Are very suitable for pot culture; 4 to 6 bulbs clustered in a 6-inch pot will give a fine display. Pink. Each 5c; doz. 50c.
