SPARKLER COLLECTION OF VEGETABLE SEEDS Desirable for Either Town or Country Garden Here is a collection of only a few packets of seed, but each item offered is one which we know from actual trial will please our customers, and also one that will be equally valuable to all planters. Every family uses radishes, lettuce and tomatoes, and we have made this collection with the idea in mind of pleasing the greatest possible number of patrons.
SPARKLER RADISH. - This variety we have listed for two years, and has proven to be the best of the round, white-tipped sorts. It is quick growing, therefore tender and brittle. The upper half is bright scarlet shading lighter until about one-third of the bulb is clear white, a very handsome combination of color. A most beautiful variety for marketing in bunches as it is so bright and attractive. Pkt. 10c. VIOLET QUEEN RADISH. - Introduced in 1908, decidedly unique in color, and is really one of the handsomest of radishes. Color is violet purple sometimes shading to a small white tip. It is a small round or turnip-shaped variety which matures quickly, is solid, crisp and of excellent flavor, and does not become pithy. For best results grow in loose, rich soil and cultivate well. It is very showy on the table, especially when put in a glass dish with red and white radishes. Per pkt. 10c, oz. 30c. ICICLE RADISH. - The most popular variety of radish. For several years it has led all varieties in quantity sold. It is long, of clear translucent whiteness, always crisp and brittle, mild in flavor, with just enough pungency to add the zest required in a thoroughly good radish. It is an old standard sort, but is given a place in this collection solely on merit. Pkt 5c. MAY KING LETTUCE. - A head lettuce of compact growth. The inner leaves are bright yellow, the outside ones light green, sometimes slightly tinged with brown. It has the good flavor and texture of the ordinary heading lettuces, but grows more quickly, which makes it earlier than ordinary kinds and more crisp and tender. Heads grow quite large, but its greatest claim to popularity lies in the quick growth, hardiness, and rapidity with which the heads form. Pkt. 10c. DWARF STONE TOMATO. - This is a dwarf, upright growing plant with fruits fully as large as the standard Stone variety. In this sort all the advantages of the stocky, strong-growing plant are fully maintained and the fruits are held up well, while it is far superior to any of the other dwarf kinds in size of fruit and productiveness. From the manner of growth you can put two plants of this where one of the standard sorts would grow, and this is the particular feature that will recommend it for home planting. Color and quality of fruit is high class and we consider this a really desirable addition to the already large list of tomatoes. Pkt. 10c.
THE SPARKLER COLLECTION, consisting of one packet each of the five desirable vegetables listed above, and shown in colors on the back of the catalogue. ONLY 25 CENTS POSTPAID, AND WORTH THE MONEY.
