DOUBLE GERANIUMS. Geraniums are the most easily grown and satisfactory of all flower plants and only the rose can vie with them in popularity. We have about 200 varieties growing at our place and test a large number of sorts every year. After careful comparison we have selected the following and those described in the Novelty List as the best: OLD GLORY.--This grand novelty which we introduced, has immense trusses, sometimes six inches in diameter, of magnificent, large, semi-double flowers which cover it so as to almost hide the foliage. The color is a clear, bright, rosy pink, the upper petals are spotted with pure white which adds to its brilliancy. During the hottest, dryest [driest] midsummer weather "Old Glory" was as fresh and sweet as if just watered by an April shower. Each 15[c], doz. $1.40. JEAN VIAUD.--Very large semi-double blooms borne in large trusses well above the foliage; individual floret large, color bright rosy pink with distinct white blotch in the center. Each 15c. BRUANTI.--One of the finest bedding sorts. As will be seen by illustration the leaves are beautifully zoned and therefore showy at all times. Flowers are a bright vermillion red; trusses large, often eight inches in diameter. Each 10c, doz. $1.00. VERA VEND.--Truss and floret are both of good size; semi-double and very open with large petals, the borders of which are rosy orange, striped with white and delicately marbled and striped with orange. Each 10c. REMARKABLE.--An intensely double variety of dwarf, compact growth and therefore desirable for pot culture as well as bedding. The florets, which look like little rosebuds, are of a dark scarlet crimson color. Each 15c. MRS. E. G. HILL.--A most distinct and pleasing shade of salmon with light shading at the center. Each 10c, doz. $1.00. S. A. NUTT.--The best crimson bedding variety. This, the finest of dark crimson geraniums, has now taken the lead as a bedding variety, being used in the largest parks and public grounds of the country in preference to all others. Its dense, compact growth, profuse blooming qualities and sun proof constitution combined give it the prominence as a bedder it has attained. As a pot plant it cannot be excelled. We sell thousands for borders and large beds. Each 10c, doz. 85c; by express, not prepaid, 50 for $2.75; 100 for $5.00.

CONTRASTE.--Flowers and trusses are very large; lower petals orange and carmine, upper petals clear orange, making a striking contrast. Each 15c. DOUBLE NEW LIFE.--A great novelty and it is a sensational departure in every way. The outer petals are large and of a brilliant red. In the center of these appear another semi-double floret, pure white in color, effecting a very charming contrast difficult to realize unless seen, and having the appearance of being produced artificially. This very novel geranium was lately sent out in England at a fabulous price. Each 15c, doz. $1.50. BLUE BEAUTY.--A European variety of a new color, heretofore unknown in geraniums, being of a most beautiful violet or purplish crimson, with a blue sheen over the surface. The flower is double and the three upper, outside petals have a spot of clear vermilion near the base. The blue tint shows better after flower is fully out. Each 20c. GOLDEN DAWN.--The nearest yellow of any geranium grown. Has rich orange scarlet double flowers. Each 15c. MARVEL.--Rich crimson scarlet, large flowers and truss; free flowering. A fine bedding sort. Each 10c. IMPROVED LA FAVORITE.--What S. A. Nutt is among dark crimsons, La Favorite is among whites; without doubt the best double white geranium ever offered. It is a strong grower, a profuse bloomer. Each 10c, doz. 85c; by express, not prepaid, 50 for $2.75; 100 for $5.00.

[image] EVERBLOOMING ANNUAL HOLLYHOCK.

ELITE COLLECTION OF BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS FOR 1906. In order that our customers might have the most brilliant and beautiful flower garden this year that they have ever had, we have selected five of our best novelties of the season, which are illustrated in colors on the reverse side of this sheet, and offer the entire collection at just One-Half the Price that they would cost if purchased separately. Don't fail to include them in your orders.

AMERICAN GIANT PANSY. A prominent Pansy specialist has put in years of careful, painstaking labor in hybridizing and selecting a strain of Pansies which would be superior to anything in existence, and as a consequence we have this extraordinarily fine variety which is of such strong, robust, luxuriant growth and produces such magnificent immense sized flowers that it might almost be said to be a superior race of Pansies. They comprise practically all shades, colors and markings known in Pansies, including the Giant Bugnots, Cassier's, and the best of the large flowered sors [sorts] from France, Germany, England, Holland and other countries. Also a strain of the curled and ruffled pansies which appear double. We are sure our American Giant Pansies cannot fail to delight every flower lover. Per pkt. of 125 seeds 25c.

EVERBLOOMING ANNUAL HOLLYHOCKS. The Hollyhock has always been one of the most showy of garden flowers and very desirable for massing, borders and backgrounds, the one objection to it being that it was a biennial and did not bloom to perfection until the second year. This fine new variety may be started in the house in March or April, set out in May and comes into bloom in July, and will continue in flower until killing frosts in the fall. Or seed may be sown in the open ground in May and will bloom in August. Plants are of vigorous growth from 5 to 8 feet high, according to soil, and the stalks are fairly loaded with large flowers, sometimes five inches across. These flowers are of a great variety of colors, crimson, canary yellow, pink, white, maroon, black, scarlet, etc., some of them beautifully veined and marked, double, semi-double and single. They will surely please everyone. Pkt. 15c.

IVY-LEAVED PERFECTION NASTURTIUM. This we consider one of the prettiest of climbers and so decidedly unique as to attract the attention of every one. They belong to a new class, the foliage being so decidedly different from the older sorts, greatly resembling the English Ivy, very dark green, making an admirable background for the brilliant yellow and scarlet flowers. The flowers which are borne in profusion throughout the season are of medium size and peculiarly cut and fringed. Pkt. 10c, oz. 30c.

PENTSTEMON GLOXINOIDES. We have always thought highly of the Pentstemon but when we saw this variety growing near Hartz mountains in Germany we were delighted and purchased the stock at once. It is a hardy perennial and if sown early will bloom the first year. Of graceful growth, with many spikes of Gloxinia-like flowers, 2 inches across; of crimson, white, rose, purple, etc., beautifully edged and marked; blooms from June till October. Give rich soil and good culture. Pkt. 10c.

CENTAUREA IMPERIALIS. A grand improvement on the old favorite Sweet Sultan, producing long stemmed blossoms 3 to 4 inched [inches] across, of graceful, airy effect, and most deliciously fragrant. The colors are varied from glistening white through shades of red, blues, lilac, royal-purple, etc. For bouquets, vases, or as corsage flowers they are of exceptional value. If cut scarcely opened they will last for ten days in water. The plants are of the easiest culture, flowering freely in the garden the first summer from seed sown in the spring. They are of strong, bushy form 2 to 3 feet high. Pkt. 10c.

ONE PACKET EACH OF THE ABOVE FIVE FLORAL NOVELTIES WORTH 70 CENTS FOR 85 CENTS.

THREE GRAND CHRYSANTHEMUMS. Will be sent postpaid for only 40 cts.

CRIMSON KNIGHT.--(S. T. Wright.) A mammoth flowering sort, which is by all odds the largest and finest of the red varieties. It is a very strong grower, and therefore succeeds with every one. Color dark velvety crimson, with reverse side of petals shaded with golden yellow. Small plants sold two years ago at $1.00 each, wholesale--but we have now propagated a nice stock, and offer strong plants at 20 cts. each, $2.00 per doz. IMPROVED OSTRICH PLUME.--This is not a new variety but it is a great improvement on the old "Ostrich Plume," being a more vigorous, better grower and freer bloomer--holding up its flower well. Flowers are of large size, pure snowy white color, and each petal is covered with long hair-like filaments. Makes a very fine pot plant. Each 15c, doz. $1.50.

SUNBURST.--A most glorious new Chrysanthemum, and by all odds the finest golden yellow variety ever sent out. It is an ideal exhibition or show flower, frequently measuring twenty-two inches in circumference and especially large when grown to single stem. It is of beautiful Japanese, somewhat incurved form, petals broad and of great substance. Intense golden yellow, with lighter yellow on reverse side, and appears so brilliant as to suggest its name. Of vigorous healthy growth, and always satisfactory. Each 20c, doz. $2.00. The three chrysanthemum novelties described above for 40 cents, postpaid.

[image] TREE ROSE.

GRACE PAGE GERANIUM. This we consider one of the finest plant novelties of the season, and we permitted our florist to name it in honor of the daughter of the manager of this company. It is identical with the old standard dark crimson S. A. Nutt Geranium except in foliage, which is beautifully variegated. Nothing in geraniums can surpass the beauty of this variety with its large trusses of double crimson flowers against their variegated background. It is a sport from the S. A. Nutt, of vigorous growth and an exceedingly profuse bloomer. The leaves are of dark green, and each bears a border of pure snowy white. We are safe in saying that there is no variegated sort on the market which blooms so freely. It is well adapted either for pot culture or bedding, and is a much stronger grower and better bloomer than the Langguth. Don't fail to try it. Each 25c, per doz. $2.50.

ELEGANT TREE ROSES. Last spring we set out about one hundred tree roses along a drive on our floral grounds, and they surprised and pleased thousands of persons who had never before seen roses grown in this manner. These Tree Roses aro [are] grafted on hardy rose stalks about four feet high, are tree shaped and when in full bloom are objects of beauty, making handsome plants for the lawn or rose border. In this shape we offer only the Hybrid Perpetual or hardy class. We have them in white, the different shades of red, pink and crimson. Should be protected in winter. These are all grown in Holland and usually sell at $1.50 to $2.50 each, but this year we have imported a very large number of extra choice specimens, which will bloom profusely the first year, and we offer them carefully packed and delivered in cars here at only $1.00 each, $9.00 per dozen. They can only be sent by express or freight.

LILIES. It seems strange that so few persons grow lilies and still they are one of the most satisfactory of all flowers. We have a splendid stock of bulbs, which you will find described on page 91.
