For your information, I herewith transmit a copy of a letter from the Secretary of the Treasury in relation to a check drawn by Austin Wiley late Supt of Indian Affairs in California.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 18th inst requesting that the Assistant Treasury of the United States at San Francisco, Cal. be instructed to buy a check drawn by Austin Wiley late Superintendent of Indian Affairs in Calafornia [California] for four hundred and thirty dollars now held by [Initials?] Lake. The necessary [illegible?] has this day ben sent.
