Lady cake
2 and 1/2 cups of flour, 2 cups of sugar
1 " " sweet milk. 1/2 cup of butter,
whites of 4 eggs. 1 teaspoonful cream of
tartar. 1/2 teaspoonful soda.

This makes nice walnut cake
add 1 cup walnut meats

Yellow cake
1 1/2 cups flour 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup
butter 1/2 cup sweet milk. teaspoon
soda 2 cream tartar yolks 4
eggs - teaspoon vanilla -

DOLLY VARDEN CAKE - Two cups of su-
gar, two-thirds of a cup of butter, one cup
of sweet milk, three cups of flour, three
eggs, two teaspoonfuls of baking powder,
bake one-half of this in two pans; to the re-
mainder add one tablespoonful of molasses,
one cup of chopped raisins, one-half cup of
currants, one teaspoonful each of cinna-
mon, nutmeg and cloves. Bake in two
pans, and put in sheets, alternately with a
little jelly.
