Sunday, December 5, 1948 - Rex came home from Lin's about 9:30 last night. He said Jessie got some better. Rex went to see Jessie this Morning. He brought Earl Slaton home with him & Earl shaved Uncle Brock & cut his hair. It rained this Morning. I didn't go to Sunday School & Church this Morning as Jessie was so sick. Rex, Robert & I went to see Jessie this afternoon. She was asleep all the time we were there. Rex came home & brought us & got his night work done & went back to Lin's. He said he didn't know if he would come home tonight or not. I addressed some Christmas cards tonight.

Monday, December 6, 1948 - Rex come home about 1 o'clock this morning. He said Jessie was restless but got quieter before he came home. Rex went to see Jessie this morning. He said she was resting very well today. I canned 3 gallons of Beaf today & washed a few pieces. Rex & I went to see Jessie this afternoon. She talked to us more this afternoon than she has for days. She didn't seem to suffer so bad while we were there. She looks awful bad. I don't see how she can live many more days. Callie came a little while this afternoon. Rex didn't go back to town tonight as he felt so tired.
