Monday, August 23, 1948 - I washed this morning. the washing machine stopped once, but Rex was here then and got it started for me. Mother cut off apples to dry. Mrs. Jones came this morning. Rex went to town today. It sure is hot today. I went to bed this afternoon and read while in bed. Anton school started today. Robert went. he didnt stay very long today.

Tuesday, August 24, 1948 - Robert went to school today. He came home at noon. We canned 7 qts of tomatoes and 3 qts of grapes. Rex went to Loyd S. Modest and Rubye worked on my gasoline iron. They got it fixed. I got part of the ironing done. Rex gathered us a canning of green beans and Mother and I fixed them ready to can tomorrow. I dont feel so well the hot weather is hard on all of us.
