Friday, August 13, 1948 - We canned 3 qts of tomatoes. Uncle Brock has been sick all afternoon. He sure does a lot of grunting. Mother washed her head and took a bath. Robert took a bath. I washed my head and took a bath. I washed the kitchen windows and hung clean curtains. We cleaned up the house. it sure has been hot today. Mary Jones came tonight. Mr and Mrs Jones and Mary went to see Mr. Bailey Key today. He is better. They said he looked bad.

Saturday, August 14, 1948 - I made some water melon preserves this morning. I like them. Rex, Robert and I went to town this afternoon. Robert and I went to the show. We then walked to Jessie's. Jessie looks bad and I dont think she is as well as she was a few days ago. We listened to the radio tonight. Mother stayed at home with Uncle Brock this afternoon.
