Monday, August 9, 1948 - I washed on the washing machine for the first by myself. I got along fine. Mother and I fixed some corn to can this afternoon. We will can the corn tomorrow. We will keep the corn on ice tonight. Lawrence, Jean & Watson McClaren came late this afternoon & we played Rook. I enjoyed playing Rook fine.
Tuesday, August 10, 1948 - I canned 10 pints of corn this morning. I had 11 but one jar broke. I couldn't get the gasoline iron to heat so I ironed part of the things and heated the iron on the coal-oil stove. I finished ironing this afternoon and heated the iron on the coal stove. I finally got through ironing. I have had a hot job all day.
